Software engineering intern
Chennai · Internship, office and client sites
About 92health
92health builds software that eye-care clinics run their day on: an EMR with ophthalmology workflows, pharmacy and optical counters with inventory and billing, surgery workflow and a patient app. We are an early-stage company with a first group of clinics in Chennai as customers.
The role
You will fix bugs, write tests and build small features across the product, working with the founders and our full stack engineer. Every change you make is reviewed and tested before it reaches a clinic.
Responsibilities
- Reproduce bugs reported by clinics, write a test that fails, fix the bug and show the test passing.
- Build small features across the frontend, backend and database, from a written description to a reviewed change.
- Add automated tests to parts of the product that have few.
- Visit clinics in Chennai with the team to see how the product is used at the front desk and the pharmacy counter.
- Use AI coding tools daily and read their output line by line before asking for a review.
- Push each change to its own branch, open a pull request that says what it changes and why, and work through the review comments until it is merged.
Requirements
- Enthusiastic about working at an early-stage startup: a small team, priorities that change from week to week, and work that goes beyond the job title.
- A final-year student or recent graduate in computer science or a related field, or self-taught with projects to show.
- At least one working web application you built, with the code available to read.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and SQL.
- Working knowledge of Git: branches, commits, pushing changes, pull requests and resolving a merge conflict.
- Available full-time for the internship, in Chennai.
- Able to communicate clearly with the team and with clinic staff.
Nice to have
- Contributions to an open source project.
- Experience writing automated tests.
We read every application and reply either way, usually within a week.
