Eye hospitals

Eye hospital software, charted by eye.

92health is the EMR an eye hospital runs on: the nurse's work-up, the doctor's exam, the spectacle Rx, the optical shop, surgery counselling and the in-patient bill, on one record for each patient.

  • Eye hospitals
  • Eye clinics
  • An optical shop or pharmacy in the building

The visit01

One eye visit, from the desk to discharge.

Each step is a screen built for the person doing it. Scroll through them in the order a patient meets them.

  1. Front desk

    Registration and the queue

Reception registers walk-ins and checks in bookings, and each visit gets a token. The visit is sorted as new, review or revisit, and the OP fee is raised at registration, so a review inside the review window stays free.

  2. Nurse work-up

    Vision, refraction, IOP and A-scan

The nurse records vision, autorefraction, lensometry, pressure, biometry and colour vision for each eye. A dilation timer runs from the drop, and a typo such as 250 for -2.50 is flagged with the likely value before the patient is sent in.

  3. Doctor's exam

Slit lamp and fundus, OD and OS

The doctor charts the anterior segment and the fundus by eye from lists that find a finding as you type, with gonioscopy, cataract and diabetic retinopathy grading, and drawings on the eye diagram. Recording the consult drafts the clinician's note.

  4. Prescriptions

Drops to the pharmacy, glasses to the optical shop

Medicines go to the pharmacy counter, with tapers written as dated steps. The spectacle Rx is filled from the reading the nurse took and lands in the optical shop's queue, where the order is tracked to the lab and back.

  5. Surgery

    Counselling to discharge

The counsellor quotes a package and books the date with an advance. The journey page walks the case through the work-up, the lens, consent and theatre, with the WHO sign-in, time-out and sign-out in order. The discharge summary's take-home page prints in English and Tamil.

  6. Billing

OP bills and the in-patient bill

Reception collects the OP fee, the pharmacy bill and the optical advance on one payment. The in-patient bill carries the IP number, the package and every advance paid against it, and is marked cash or insurance.

Surgery02
From the consult to the theatre

Every cataract case, counselled, scheduled and closed in one place.

When the doctor recommends surgery, the case reaches the counsellor with the eye and the procedure already filled in. The quote is frozen on the case, so the bill matches what the patient was told.

On the day, theatre works from the case page: the lens is reserved from the lens register by serial, consent forms are signed on a clinic device, and the post-op medicines go to the pharmacy as one set.

  • Packages with a frozen quote, and an advance booked with the date
  • A lens register by serial, with box barcodes scanned in
  • Consent forms the clinic writes, signed on a tablet
  • A discharge summary with its take-home page in English and Tamil

The rest of the clinic03

The rest of the eye hospital, on the same record.

The optical shop, the pharmacy and the books run on the same system, so a patient is registered once and pays once.

Plain answers04

Questions eye hospitals ask.

Does it read our autorefractor and biometer?
An agent on a clinic computer reads Topcon and Nidek autorefractors, IOLMaster 700 and Lenstar biometers, and Cirrus and Optopol OCT. Readings arrive as a draft the nurse or doctor confirms, and each device is checked against its real output when a site goes live.
Can the optical shop in our building receive the glasses prescription?
Yes. An issued spectacle Rx lands in the optical shop's queue with the powers for each eye, and the shop's order is tracked from the lab to delivery. A shop elsewhere gets the printed Rx, which carries a QR the patient can open.
Does it handle in-patient billing and insurance?
Yes. An IP number is given at admission, the in-patient bill carries the package and every advance paid, and each bill is marked cash or insurance. An insurance bill waits for the insurer's settlement instead of being collected at the counter.
Is it ABDM compliant?
Patient records link to ABHA numbers, and clinical records are kept in FHIR R4, the format ABDM exchanges. Sharing records through the ABDM gateway is switched on for each facility.
How long does it take to go live?
Usually within a week. We set up departments, doctors, fees and stock with your team, import your patient register and stock from spreadsheets, and train the front desk, nurses and doctors in a few hours.
Do you work with eye hospitals outside Chennai?
Yes. It runs in the browser, so an eye hospital or clinic in Madurai, Coimbatore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Salem, Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada or Guntur works on the same system as one in Chennai. Prescriptions can print their headings and timings in Tamil beside the English.
